Kokoda Youth Foundation
Whether you’re looking to volunteer as an ongoing leader in our youth programs or lend a helping hand at our Kokoda Challenge events, we have a range of fulfilling opportunities for everyone wanting to give back to their community and join a local charity that is changing lives through the Spirit of Kokoda.
Our volunteers embody the Kokoda Values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice and look to set an example for the young people in our community and youth programs. Our youth programs are located in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Logan, so our volunteers are generally from Southeast Queensland or Northern NSW and surrounds.
Below you will find a list of different volunteer roles we are looking to fill with the perfect person. Each role has different skills and strengths we require, so be sure to find the best one for you!

The Kokoda Challenge annual events attracts hundreds of volunteers every year. We have families, friends, and even colleagues who are looking to do some corporate team building, help us successfully deliver Australia’s toughest team endurance event.
Past KCYP volunteer leaders will tell you that this is our most challenging, yet rewarding volunteer role to fill and each KCYP branch needs four leaders to operate. This 9 month commitment requires you to mentor the kids from our Kokoda Challenge Youth Program through their weekly training walks, educate them on the history of Kokoda, conquer the 96km Kokoda Challenge event and fully funded peak experience alongside them, then join the kids in their volunteer community service.
You will lead our Kokoda Kids through one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences, by their side every step of the way.

Ideally, we want our DDP Volunteers to commit themselves to support the delivery of a full program – arriving the Friday before program commencement (to allow onboarding and familiarisation with program/KYF process) and departing after program completion on Sunday the following week. You will need to hold a current Blue Card and ideally have a current First Aid Certificate.
While supporting the delivery of the DDP, our volunteers would see themselves:
Ultimately, our volunteers would become part of the team delivering the program, as such, we would ask that you remain open and willing to work collaboratively as a team to ensure we deliver a fun, memorable and life-changing program for all involved.
