Why this role matters

As Finance Manager, you play a critical role in ensuring KYF’s financial sustainability, integrity, and accountability—so our programs remain safe, strong, and impactful for young people. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Board, this role combines strategic influence with hands-on financial stewardship.

You will lead financial governance, planning, and systems while modelling calm judgement, transparency, and responsibility in a complex, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead organisational financial planning, forecasting, and long-term sustainability modelling
  • Provide clear, evidence-based financial advice to the CEO, SLT, and Board
  • Support major organisational decisions, grant submissions, and business cases
  • Contribute to organisational strategy, risk management, and decision-making forums

Financial Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial systems and records
  • Oversee statutory obligations including BAS, PAYG, GST, superannuation, and ACNC reporting
  • Lead month-end, year-end, and external audit processes
  • Strengthen internal controls and proactively identify and manage financial risk

Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Lead annual budgeting across programs and departments
  • Monitor financial performance and provide timely, insightful variance analysis
  • Prepare clear monthly, quarterly, and Board-level financial reports
  • Build financial capability and accountability across the organisation

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise, develop, and support the Accounts & Payroll Officer
  • Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of transparency, reliability, and continuous improvement

Financial Operations & Systems

  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and cash flow
  • Optimise financial systems and workflows
  • Drive process improvements that strengthen efficiency and compliance

  • Strong controls reduce risk and support clean audit outcomes
  • Leaders across KYF understand their financial responsibilities

About You

You are a confident, values-driven finance professional who combines technical excellence with sound judgement and a strong sense of responsibility.

You bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5–7 years’ experience in senior finance or financial management roles
  • Proven experience reporting to executive and Board level
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, compliance, and not-for-profit environments
  • High proficiency in Xero and advanced Excel
  • Experience leading or mentoring staff
  • Integrity, discretion, and a commitment to ethical practice
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector, grants management, or systems improvement is highly regarded.
